This Scam begins with a Call or Text message from an alleged “Family” member (Son, Daughter, Grandchild). Indicator 2
A desperate situation will be presented where the alleged Family Member needs funds for various reasons. Scammers use a False Identity to form a "Relationship" in which the Victim believes the relationship is real and genuine. Sometimes Impersonating Celebrities. Indicator 3
The Scammer will send information that instructs the Victim where to send money via Wire Transfer, Gift Cards, or Money Apps such as Cash App, WhatsApp or Zelle. Indicator 4
This scam is usually quick and immediate and the scammer will receive their money and move to another Victim very quickly. Next Steps
